Diabetes Support Groups
Sugar Talk is a free, interactive diabetes program sponsored by Living Smart Diabetes. The group meets at two locations. In Port Charlotte on the second Wednesday of the month from 10am to 11:30am at Charlotte County Cultural Center in the Community Room. In Englewood, the group meets the third Monday of every month in the cafeteria at Englewood Community Hospital. Come meet people, enjoy lectures, games and have fun. For more info call 941-484-1200.

Ongoing Diabetes clinic   9am -1pm   Saturdays   Port Charlotte

A diabetes clinic is open on selected Saturdays for diabetics to come and get help controlling their diabetes. The clinic is seen as a way of helping diabetics stay in control in between visits with their primary doctor. Patients are seen by a qualified Nurse Practitioner who is a Certified Diabetes Educator and insulin pump trainer. The clinic is supervised by Board Certified Endocrinologist, Lenita Hanson MD. The clinic is located at Central Plaza West, 21216 Olean Blvd., suite 8, Port Charlotte. Walk- Ins welcomed. For info call 941-484-1200.

LIVING SMART DIABETES SEVENTH ANNUAL FREE HEALTH FAIR

November is American Diabetes Month when the American Diabetes Association spreads the word to those affected by diabetes about the benefits of taking early steps to prevent serious complications.

Living Smart Diabetes Self Management Program will be holding its seventh annual diabetes health fair on Saturday, November 14, 2009 from 9:30am – 1:00 pm at St. James Episcopal Church Parish Hall, 1365 Viscaya Drive, Port Charlotte 33952.

The public is invited to join us for free eye, hearing and foot screenings and learn about insulin pumps, pen devices and more. There will be great door prizes, a diabetes art contest and many diabetes related products.
